Mobile Cat Grooming in Levittown, PA

Cats clean themselves. Why would my cat need a professional grooming?

Yes, cats are notorious for being well-groomed on their own, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t need professional help from time to time. While cat grooming isn’t as common as dog grooming, cat grooming is a growing industry and one that is beneficial to their health. The most obvious benefit of cat grooming is to keep their fur free from knots, tangles and unwanted pests. This is important for long-haired cats, whose fur can easily get knotted or invaded by fleas and ticks. Cat grooming can also cut down on heavy shedding, large fur balls, and to keep your clothing and furniture from being covered in cat hair all the time. If you have a long-haired cat like a Maine Coon or a Persian, professional grooming can lighten their fur burden and help keep them cool in the summer. If you have a short-haired cat, they too would benefit for the same reasons as long-haired cats, as they can suffer from the same issues as well.

The dangers of you trying to groom your cat vs the benefits of using a professional cat groomer.

You can certainly do your own cat grooming; however, some cats don’t love getting bathed, so unless you are comfortable and competent in handling your cat, you or your pet could get hurt. However, it is a misconception that all cats hate water. There are many cats that actually do love it! Also, cats are much less likely to sit still making them more difficult to groom than dogs.

This is why professional cat groomers can groom cats easier and safer than most pet owners; they have training in safely handling all types of cats (including the squirmy ones). You can help prepare your cat for an easier grooming session by tuckering them out with a massive play time with their favorite toy before we arrive at your home. This will ensure that your cat will be happy, and a little tired and more relaxed during their grooming.

Cat Grooming Services

You’ll know if your cat needs a haircut. When their belly hair is matted up, they have tangles all over, or they are overheating in summer, it is time for the groomer.

The Basic Cat Grooming Package

This cat grooming package includes bathing, trims to clear hair from their eyes, ear care, eye checks and eye care, nail trims, and paw checks. We clean your cat’s face and shampoo and condition their coat. Then we rinse, brush, massage, towel dry and blow dry your cat. We trim their sanitary area and do a full brush (and comb) out.

While technically this service does not include a cut, we like our customers (your pets) to look and feel good, so we may trim a few areas on your cat that definitely needs attention. The price of this service is based on the breed of the cat. For example, a Maine Coon has longer hair, which makes the job of grooming more challenging, longer, and higher in price. Although the cost for a longhair cats may be higher, their grooming may be even more important for them than for shorthair cats. Longhair cats are more likely to get tangles and to shed all over you and your home. Regular grooming can help reduce cat hair allergens in your home and make it easier for your cat to self-groom. As cats groom themselves, they swallow excess fur. If your cat is shedding excessively due to heat or other factors, they could form hairballs, which could be uncomfortable and potentially unhealthy.

De-matting

If your cat has mats and tangles, sometimes we can comb them out. If we spend a lot of time de-matting your cat, there is a charge for that. A basic package and hair cut includes de-matting time in it, but if we spend an excessive amount of time combing and brushing due to packed undercoat and/or tangles, we will charge for that extra time and effort.

Furminator or De-shedding Treatment

A furminator or de-shedding treatment makes both long and shorthair cats look and feel better. Within 1 or 2 treatments, it has been proven to reduce shedding up to 90%. It removes loose hair before your cat can ingest it and vomit it back as a hairball, reduces dander and airborne elements that cause allergic reactions in many people, as well as helps reduce shedding on furniture and you as well.

Nail Clip Only

If your cat doesn’t need anything other than just the nails taken care of, we can come out and do just the nails on all 4 paws. Not doing regular nail clips on your cat can lead to a variety of problems. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) recommends that you to have your cat’s nails trimmed every 10 days to two weeks.

Trim Only

If wanted or needed, we can trim specific areas rather than trimming your whole cat. We can trim paws, pads, feathers, face, tail, neck, sanitary or others specific areas.

Sanitary Groom

Everyone loves their pets, but not so much when they have poop stuck all over their back end. Let us clean clean this for you as this is not good for your cat or the cleanliness of your house, and a “sanitary cut” or groom will trim away the hair to ensure good hygiene.

Brush Out Only

Know your pet needs to be brushed, but don’t have the time? We can come out to comb and brush your cat for you. Most cats don’t need regular haircuts, and can be relieved of overly shedding hair with a good brushing session. With our specialized tools, we’ll be able to remove a lot more undercoat than your brushing would.

Flea and Tick Treatment

Fleas are easy to get and very hard to get rid of. We can take care of the fleas and ticks on your cat and offer valuable suggestions as to how to get rid of fleas in your house.

If your cat has fleas or ticks, we can give them a bath that would kill those pests. Then we dry and brush them, removing dead fleas or use hemostats to remove embedded ticks. We always recommend that you get long term protection for your pets, but this treatment takes care of the pests currently on your pet while you deal with your pets environment.

Ear Cleaning

One area that cats can’t clean very well themselves, is inside their ears. We remove wax, dirt, and debris from your pets ears. It’s better to have a professional clean your cat’s ears as it is important to be gentle and to avoid the cat’s inner ear canals to prevent injury or infection. While cleaning your cat’s ears, we will be able to let you know about health concerns such as ear mites, blood blisters or ear infections before they become a major problem. This service may also include trimming, scissoring or plucking hair from the ears if necessary.

Tooth Brushing

Brushing your cat’s teeth is important to maintaining dental health and preventing gum disease and other dental issues. Since brushing a cat’s teeth is a notoriously difficult task, you can have us do it for you as we have been trained for this. Maintaining regular tooth brushing regiments, helps your cat’s teeth last their lifetime.

Types Of Cat Cuts

Comb Cut

The comb cut is one of the most basic cuts for cats. A licensed groomer trims the coat down to between 1/2 and 1 inch, which allows your cat to stay relatively warm in colder weather while cutting down on shedding, matting and hairballs. Besides increasing overall hygiene, the comb cut allows us (and you) to more easily see your cat’s skin, allowing us to alert you to any skin-related health issues more quickly.

Lion Cut

The lion cut or shave-down is a popular style of haircut for longhair cats, such as Persians and Maine Coons, that trims the hair on the cat’s body down to a buzz and leaves the tail and fur around the face fluffy — so your cat looks like an adorable lion. This is a multi purpose cut — some people like it for the look and the way it feels for the pet, and some like it because it is a great way to deal with mats on your pet and keep your cat cool. This cut is popular and offers different options.

Belly Shave

Shaving down the hair on your cat’s stomach can help prevent the health challenges that matted fur can bring. Long haired or overweight cats can also benefit from a shaved belly if they have feces or kitty litter matting in the fur around their anus, which is not good for your cat or the cleanliness of your house. A licensed groomer carefully shaves the hair covering the cat’s belly area, targeting problem areas including between the cat’s rear legs, as well as beneath the tail and around the anus. Because a cat’s skin is incredibly sensitive and shaving a cat’s fur requires professional training, a belly shave should always be conducted by a groomer.

If the full belly is too much, you can try the half belly for a “less is more” approach.

Full Coat Groom

A bath and blow dry is just what your cat needs to reduce shedding, remove tangles, clean and deodorize. What’s not to love? (Not to mention the cleaned eyes, ears, and trimmed nails!)
